Robust design concept

Summary

My presentation will introduce hearers to the concept of robust design in the context of my research topic, turbomachinery blades. I will present why blades should be designed to be robust, present the negative effects of conventional blades as motivation and introduce relevant tools and methods, which are applicable in other fields too. Some of my own research based on NASA Rotor 37 flow simulations will serve to illustrate the entire process. I will also present the computational workflow used for fluid dynamics and robust design.

Bio

I am a doctoral student on the Next Generation Computational Modelling (NGCM) iPhD programme at the University of Southampton’s EPSRC CDT. I work in coordination with my industrial sponsor at the local Rolls-Royce University Technology Centre and currently am in the second year of research .
