Samuel graduated from Ecole des Ponts ParisTech. He spent a year working for PSA Peugeot Citroen in Paris before coming to the University of Southampton, where he obtained an MSc from the Institute of Sound and Vibration Research (ISVR). He is currently doing a PhD at ISVR on the sources of jet noise.
