The first day of the 2016 NGCM Summer Academy will consist of two training courses running in parallel: Basics A and Basics B. Both courses will include training in the Python programming language and version control with Git. They will introduce basic programming concepts and translate this knowledge into practical tools to help attendees work more productively.

The Basics A course is aimed at postgraduate students and postdoctoral scientists with very limited programming background, and will give a basic introduction to programming with Python.

The Basics B course will include intermediate-level training in Python. This course is aimed at those with some Python knowledge, or a detailed understanding of another programming language.
