'The Digital Economy: Strategic Research Group' presents

Hear about, and discuss, an exciting new Southampton initiative to help researchers manage their data.

The Climategate scandal has recently highlighted the importance of research data management. The University of Southampton is in the middle of a major project, funded by JISC, to improve its support for researchers in this critical area. The aim of the Institutional Data Management Blueprint (IDMB) project is to produce a framework for managing research data that encompasses the whole institution, based on an analysis of current requirements. Academic Schools, iSolutions, the Library, and other stakeholders are all working together to make this a reality.

The goal is to create a 10-year data management roadmap for the University that improves the ability of staff and students to focus on their research, and highlight where investment is required in the near- and long-term future.

We will give an overview and update on this exciting project, and how it links to the Digital Economy programme and other Southampton initiatives.
