The BCS Fortran Specialist Group presents: "A Fortran Afternoon: Developing Code for Physics plus C Interoperability"

Booking is now open for an afternoon of Fortran related presentations on Thursday 30th September at the British Computer Society's London offices in Southampton Street, just off The Strand. The main presentation will be by Keith Refson of the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory on the development of the CASTEP package:

This event is hosted by the BCS Fortran Specialist Group and is co-sponsored by the IOP's Computational Physics Group. Members of both groups are encouraged to attend - the talks and buffet lunch are free.

CASTEP is a software package which uses density functional theory to provide a good atomic-level description of all manner of materials and molecules. CASTEP can give information about total energies, forces and stresses on an atomic system, as well as calculating optimum geometries, band structures, optical spectra, phonon spectra and much more. It can also perform molecular dynamics simulations.

Booking

Numbers are limited and pre-booking is mandatory, via the BCS online booking system:

Booking will enable access to the buffet lunch (1pm) and presentations (2pm) at the BCS offices which are located in the Davidson Building, 5 Southampton Street, London WC2E 7HA.

Please note that the morning session is the AGM of the BCS Fortran Specialist Group which is for their members only.
