Professor Andrew Starr leads the Through-life Engineering Services Institute at Cranfield University. He has over 25 years of experience in training and supervising research engineers in maintenance related areas. Andrew researches in condition monitoring and e-maintenance to support industrial solutions. Current work is exploring automation of data tasks, decision making and cost effectiveness with Network Rail, BAE Systems and Schlumberger. He is a Chartered Engineer, a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society, a member of the British Institute of Non-Destructive Testing, and a member of the Institute of Asset Management. He has published over 100 technical papers from a wide range of collaborative projects with industry in condition monitoring, asset management and sustainability, helping to solve real problems and to devise innovative products and services.
