The next Virtual Acoustics and Audio Engineering (VAAE) Seminar is taking place on this Thursday, September 5, B19/3011 from 14 00 to 15 00.

The talk will be given by Dr Jiho Chang who is currently a research fellow in the department of electrical engineering, technical University of Denmark. His research focus on sound field reproduction and sound focusing.

A double-layer array of loudspeakers can be used to approximate the monopoles and dipoles of the Kirchhoff-Helmholtz integral equation. This means that both interior and exterior sound fields can be controlled. For example, it is possible to reproduce a desired sound field in a listening zone where the listener situates, and to prevent the sound waves from propagating to outside at the same time. In this talk, recent studies on sound field control with a circular double-layer array of loudspeakers are shown with simulation and experimental results. In addition, realizations of the double-layers are discussed in terms of the acoustic centers of the loudspeakers.
