Special Topic Area within 30th Computers and Information in Engineering Conference (CIE)and ASME International Design Engineering Technical Conferences (IDETC)

Computational modeling and simulation of multiphysics systems poses grand challenges, to horizontal science and technology disciplines such as engineering, material science, and application sectors such as aerospace, marine and automotive industries Most of the real-life systems involve interactions amongst a wide range of physical phenomena. In addition to that, the time and length scales of the individual processes involved often differ by orders of magnitude. Numerical simulation of these multiphysics problems that involve multiple fields, scales and domains requires development of sophisticated models and methods for their integration, as well as efficient numerical algorithms and advanced computational techniques.

ASME's CIE division under the auspices of the Advanced Modeling and Simulation technical committee (AMS), is organizing this year a special topic area that is designed to bring together researchers on computational multiphysics and their applications from leading international and interdisciplinary research communities. The conference serves as a forum to present the results of the latest research and product/tool developments, and to highlight related activities from around the world. For more information and abstract submission please visit http://www.asmeconferences.org/IDETC2010/

Papers will be judged based on their scientific quality of innovation and rigor, as well as their application value. Quality papers will be referred to the ASME Journal of Computing and Information Science In Engineering.
