In his talk entitled "'Marine Technology from Lloyd’s Register's Perspective ", Director Kent will share LR's thinking and approach as Southampton University and LR become neighbours collaborating together to achieve sustained economic growth. .
BIOGRAPHY: Tim Kent B.Sc., M.Sc., C.Eng, FIMarEST, MIMechE
Tim Kent joined Lloyd's Register in 1992 after working in engine technology and heavy machinery engineering with Ricardo Consulting Engineers and Hayward Tyler Fluid Dynamics.
With Lloyd’s Register he has worked in plan appraisal and field survey in the UK and Japan, and was responsible for strategic planning of LR’s marine activities for a number of years.
He is currently Marine Technical Director responsible for Marine Technology and Engineering – including technical policy and delivery of design appraisal services, supported by strategic research, external affairs, product development - within the marine business of Lloyd's Register, and is a member of the Grants sub-committee for the Lloyd’s Register Foundation.
He graduated from the University of Southampton in 1985 in Mechanical Engineering, and Cranfield Institute of Technology in 1993 with MSc in Machinery Design, Noise and Vibration.
