Collaborations Workshop 2014 (CW14) - software in your reproducible research The Software Sustainability Institute's annual Collaborations Workshop (CW14) brings together researchers, software developers, managers, funders and more to explore important ideas in software and research and to plant the seed of interdisciplinary collaborations.

The role of software in your reproducible research is the theme of this year's workshop. This thread will run through everything from the keynote, lightning talks, collaborative ideas and discussion topics and it will fuel the associated Hackday.

The CW14 Workshop will take place on 26-27 March 2014.

The CW14 Hackday will start on the evening of the 27 March and continue to the end of the working day 28 March 2014. There will be prizes for the best implementations of ideas!

We want to hear about everything related to software in your reproducible research. This includes repeating, re-running, re-computing, replicating, reviewing and repurposing research outputs. We believe research outputs include the specialised software built and used to produce research results. If you don't agree with our definition of reproducibility, we want you to come to workshop and argue for a different definition!

The workshop is sponsored by Microsoft Research and GitHub and supported by the Oxford e-Research Centre (OeRC).

Twitter We'll announce all Collaborations Workshop related news on Twitter with the hashtag #collabw14.

Registration Registration is open until 21 March 2014, but places go quickly so please register soon to avoid disappointment. There is a £60 registration fee that covers costs for the breaks and lunches and you are free to attend the conference dinner. When registering please choose the first option which states 1. Workshop.

Accommodation Accomodation can be booked for the event using University Rooms Oxford.

Why you should attend Researchers to connect with software developers who have the skills to implement their research ideas and to understand the approaches taken by different researchers thus helping them adopt reproducibility in their research.

Participation by software developers allows them to better understand real user needs and appreciate the

similarity and differences in the reproducible research needs of different disciplines.

Investigators and managers gain a more up to date understanding of themes in collaborative research and how best to bring together researchers and developers for more reproducible research.

Funders gain an understanding of the thriving and moving target of interdisciplinary reproducible research and why and how it should be best funded.

Publishers will gain an insight about the direction of reproducible science and better understand grassroots thinking about future trends in publication.

You shape the agenda The Collaborations Workshop is an unconference: it consists of breakout discussions about subjects related to software in research, lightening talks and excellent opportunities to network. As a delegate, you can nominate topics for discussion: anything from a problem specific to your research, to an issue that affects the entire research community. Preference will be given to topics related to reproducibility.

If you have any suggestions for topics please (contact us) and we will add them.

Hackday This year we will run a hackday after the workshop where participants will have the opportunity implement their ideas about reproducible research. There will be prizes for the best implementations!

CW14 Sponsors If you are interested in sponsoring CW14 then please (contact us).

Organisers The Collaborations Workshop is organised by the Software Sustainability Institute with the help and support of a number of partner organisations. If you or your organisation would like to help please (contact us).
