Summary
The world is on the threshold of a new era of innovation and change with the rise of the Industrial Internet; we call it Machine-to-Machine communications (M2M) or the ‘Internet of Things’ (IoT).
It’s taking place through the convergence of:- micro electro-mechanical systems (MEMS) and processes, with the power of advanced computing and big data analytics, and new levels of secure connectivity, permitted by advances in wireless networking technology.
Respected industry analysts IDC predict that the number of devices connected to the Internet, excluding PCs, tablets and smartphones, will reach 26 billion by 2020 and that this will become a $7.1 trillion market in 2020.
IoT is simply an environment that gathers data from multiple devices and translates that data into actionable information.
Fidelity provides solutions for real-time monitoring, control, and analysis of events and data. The company is based at the University of Southampton Science Park where we have a small modern office facility and a development laboratory. Fidelity has a joint venture with the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Southampton University.
At the heart of Fidelity’s ‘connectivity’ solution is PLEXUS, our multi-tenant, cloud-hosting platform for IoT applications. It enables thousands of organisations to simultaneously monitor, control and analyse data from their connected devices.
PLEXUS uses a device (such as a sensor, meter or micro-computer) to capture an event (such as a product, system or process malfunction), which is relayed through a network, to an application that translates the captured event and data, into meaningful and actionable information.
Biography
Robert Condon - Chief Executive Officer
Robert Condon founded the company in 2012. Robert has over 30 years’ experience building and managing companies in the International telecommunications and ICT sector, specializing in the design, construction and operations of fixed and mobile voice/data communications networks.
