You are invited to attend an IBM WATSON talk, given by Paul Fryer, IBM Academic Initiative Leader, Ecosystem Development, IBM Europe.

You will hear about the latest developments of IBM's natural language system 'Watson'. Watson is a cognitive technology that processes information more like a human than a computer—by understanding natural language, generating hypotheses based on evidence and learning as it goes. Watson is a question answering (QA) computing system that IBM built to apply advanced natural language processing, information retrieval, knowledge representation, automated reasoning, and machine learning technologies to the field of open domain question answering

Watson first came to light as it competed on its own and beat two world champions in the American game show Jeopardy in 2011.

Where has Watson been since and where is IBM planning to take this new DeepQA technology which can understand natural language? What are some of the initial applications of this exciting technology and how could it change entire industries and professions?

Finally, please forward this to your colleagues interested in cognitive computing, WATSON technology, or in developing stronger bonds with IBM in this area.
