D3.js is a JavaScript library for manipulating documents based on data. Used alongside HTML, SVG and CSS, D3 enables the visualisation of big data and subsequent communication and exploration. D3’s emphasis on web standards gives you the full capabilities of modern browsers without tying yourself to a proprietary framework, combining powerful visualisation components and a data-driven approach to DOM manipulation.
This workshop will run through the basics of D3, whilst providing introduction to HTML, CSS and Java. No prior experience of these languages is required. The workshop will also aim to provide a guide to producing an election map, in light of the upcoming general election. Please bring a laptop and we will provide practical examples for user to attempt. We look forward to seeing you there!
