Recent funding initiatives have emphasised the importance of cohort-working and having available high quality training for postgraduate research students. This shift from the traditional self-taught model of the PhD has been successfully applied across a wide variety of disciplines. The epicentre of this change has been the formation of no less than seventeen doctoral training centres and partnerships hosted at the University and creating a shift in the postgraduate landscape!
To highlight the fantastic doctoral training programmes available across the University, we are hosting a showcase of the resulting research from students who have benefited from these initiatives. This will include student talks and posters on interdisciplinary topics followed by a number of workshops (please register below) covering computing skills useful for postgraduate research. The event will be opened by the Pro Vice-Chancellor for research and enterprise Tim Elliot and will be attended by research council representatives.
The event is open to all members of the University of Southampton. Please register via EventBrite here so that we can get an impression of numbers.
