I am currently a (first year) postgraduate research student at the EPSRC Centre of Doctoral training Next Generation computational modelling.
My PhD thesis aims to address the challenge of ever-increasing demand for higher powers from fibre lasers by developing theoretical and numerical methods to simulate laser pulse amplification in large-mode area fibres supporting multiple spatial modes.
The project is focused on developing numerical methods and applying them to state-of-the-art optical fibre and fibre laser technology. The work will be closely associated with related experimental and manufacturing programmes at the ORC and is funded by the EPSRC.
