MPhys Physics - University of Southampton (2014)

I have already spent my undergraduate time in Southampton and I have come back for more! After getting my degree in physics I felt that I am thoroughly interested in the computational side of theoretical research and am undertaking the iPhD within the EPSRC CDT in NGCM. When completed, I hope to apply this qualification either in related industry or in academia.

I will be working with Malcolm Coe and Wynn Ho on a research project in Astrophysics.

Specifically, my research is on modelling neutron stars and their interactions within X-ray binaries. In recent years, an exceptionally large population of X-ray binaries have been found in the Small Magellanic Cloud (SMC). Using Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) simulations it should be possible to improve our understanding of these systems.
