In February 2010 I joined High Performance Computing team in iSolutions. My job is to make community of Iridis users bigger and happier, especially users who are doing research in Life Science as they are often new to Cluster Computing and Unix world.

Before that I used to be a Particle Physicist and worked in several international centres like FERMILAB and CERN. Accelerator physics is renowned for its heavy usage of computing clusters, farms and Grids for processing petabytes of scientific data. (NB! www emerged from CERN's data-sharing ) My research interests had gradually shifted from high-energy physics to high-performance computing. It is hard to overestimate a role of computing in Modern Science - once computing methods were used to facilitate research, nowadays it is an integral or even fundamental part of many scientific projects. When computational needs of researchers go beyond individual workstation they join community of Iridis users.

As a member of HPC team my everyday responsibilities include Iridis cluster administration, software installations and user support. I also conduct training courses on cluster computing and collect statistics on cluster usage.
